MUAMMER KETENCOGLU & HIS WOMEN VOICES ENSEMBLE:
Turkish accordion master, composer, singer and researcher, Muammer Ketencoglu founded this chorus of 17 women, presenting delightful women’s folk songs from all over Turkey, in 2005. The repertoire includes joyful wedding songs, traditional songs of love and separation, and powerfully moving laments and lullabies in Turkish, Greek, Kurdish and Armenian. These extensively researched and carefully collected songs portray the colourful, hidden cultural lives of women in Turkey.
